MIRACLE Lab

(Marburger Image Recognition and Analysing Charged Lines in Emulsion)

An automatic measuring system to execute the angular measurements in the nuclear emulsion chambers.

Two articles are prime published in order to introduce and to desribe it (review the List of Publications!):
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research.
Computer Physics Communications.

Setup the CCD-camera, attached above the microscope equipped with a stage moving in 3D via three step-motors

To open an existenting image

In order to save an image. The programm supports couple of well known formats

Select the objects according to the given frame, threshold, and filter criteria

Image proccessing. The Window "Geometrical Operations" desribes the avaiable operations.

Arithmetical proccessing. The Window "Arithmetical Operations" desribes the avaiable operations

Within the two interfaces (25480 and 25660) the selected objects are added together in the Vertex direction

Since the Interaction is supposed to take place in the target layer only (before the emulsion plate #2), we can not directly determine the x- and the y-coordinates of the event-center in the dowen layers. We use the x- and y-coordinates of different primary beams in order to predict/canculate the event-coodinates. The following two pictgures show the input and the output of the FUNCTION <<< PredictTheCenter >>>.

For the Image proccessing we use 20 different kind of INHANCEMENT- and MORPHOLOGY-operations. In the following image we see the effect of the morphologocal-operation WATERSHED as an example.
